Abstract

The present invention relates to the combination of ivermectin (IVM) and atorvastatin (ATV) to inhibit dengue virus (DENV) infection. This combination may be contained in a single pharmaceutical formulation or administered sequentially or in two separate formulations to prevent or treat DENV serotype 1, 2, 3, or 4 infection. Its function is to inhibit the transport of viral replication proteins into the nucleus of the infected cell. The combined ivermectin and atorvastatin treatment has a protective effect in AG129 mice infected with dengue virus.
