Abstract
The present invention relates to a tuned mechanical damping system for controlling and reducing vibration amplitude in machinery and structures, which comprises: a wiring system including a plurality of cables for absorbing and dissipating vibrations generated in machines and structures; a tuned mass mechanical assembly that modifies the mechanical properties of the tuned damping system by adjusting the weight of the tuned mass of said mechanical assembly, allowing it to be tuned to a specific resonant frequency; and a double tension support for adjusting the tension of the plurality of cables of the entire wiring system, such that by varying the tension in the entire wiring system, the stiffness of the damping system is modified, directly affecting its resonant frequency; additionally, a tuning process for said tuned mechanical damping system is provided.
