Abstract

This invention presents a system that counteracts the negative effects of excessive water waste and significantly aids in water conservation. Specifically, a system is implemented for the operation of a segmented water network. The optimal system pressure is determined by constructing a scaled-down water network for experimentation and pressure control purposes. A classic Proportional-Integral control algorithm is used within a control system to process information monitored by primary measuring elements (Remote Pressure Sensors). This information is then used by the final control element, a pressure-reducing valve (PRV), via a mechanical actuator. Additionally, the system monitors network pressure through a user interface and displays the process variable on a computer.
