SUPER ABSORBENT ANTIMICROBIAL ARTICLE, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Abstract

The present invention relates to an environmentally friendly, antimicrobial super-absorbent article, characterized by comprising: a pad defined by a first top layer of filter paper, a second layer of cellulose fibers with a bio-based and compostable hydrogel with high absorption capacity containing at least one antimicrobial and antifungal agent, bonded to the first layer by hot fusion; a third layer of cellulose and a fourth layer of filter paper, bonded by hot fusion; wherein said hydrogel with high absorption capacity comprises 5 to 50% w / w of natural polysaccharides, preferably sodium carboxymethyl cellulose; 0.01 to 5% w / w of a polyalcohol, preferably D-sorbitol; 0.05% to 5% w / w of carboxylic acid, preferably citric acid; 0.001 to 0.01% v / w of silver nanoparticles and 50 to 59% v / w of water.
