Abstract

The present invention provides a novel approach for preparing a nanocomposite hydrogel based on gold nanoparticles and polyacrylamide. Importantly, it is the first procedure to leverage the synergistic process of plasmonic nanoparticle formation, due to the reducing capacity of the monomer and the use of its localized surface plasmon resonance as a photoinitiator for polymerization and hydrogel generation.
