Abstract
This invention describes a biological method for obtaining copper selenide (CuSe) nanoparticles, which have demonstrated specific properties with a wide range of potential applications over the years. The described method allows for the practical and relatively easy production of copper selenide nanoparticles without the formation of copper oxides. This results in stable nanoparticles with very small sizes, on the order of tens of nanometers, and unique properties. The CuSe nanoparticles are functionalized in an in situ process using environmentally friendly natural biochemicals such as gum arabic and chitosan. Elemental selenium and copper are non-toxic materials used in various fields, particularly those requiring elements with high antimicrobial activity.
