Abstract
This high-speed controller area network system implements Li-Fi technology to address the limitations of the CAN bus in vehicles, as well as other protocols that require cabling for communication. Li-Fi is a wireless technology that enables higher data rates, so its implementation in a vehicle's controller area network allows for the reduction or elimination of some cabling sections. This is because the cabling is replaced by a wireless communication technology that uses light to transmit data, ideally with line of sight between Li-Fi transceivers. These transceivers typically use LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology for light transmission and reception. This light may be visible or invisible to the human eye and is also a coded signal. The present controller area network system with Li-Fi technology preferably comprises a plurality of Li-Fi transceiver modules that are appropriately integrated into the vehicle to connect with the nodes of a CAN bus, acting as hub modules that concentrate the wired connection of multiple ECUs, so that the Li-Fi modules communicate with each other and avoid the installation of complex wiring from the ECUs to the CAN bus.
