Abstract
The invention describes pharmaceutical compositions comprising Orlistat (ORL) and Piperine (PIP) for the treatment of obesity, which simultaneously exhibit a hepatoprotective effect. The present invention demonstrates for the first time that the administration of the compositions of the invention (ORL-PIP) provides effective therapy for the management of obesity resulting from high consumption of fats and carbohydrates, in addition to offering a hepatoprotective effect, thereby significantly reducing treatment discontinuation due to the adverse effects of Orlistat.
