Abstract

The apparatus and associated methods refer to a light device with a programmable display. For example, a linear multimode programmable indicator light (LMPIL) may include a housing extending along a longitudinal axis and having a visual display surface. For instance, the LMPIL may include an indicator light and a programmable display attached to the housing. For example, the indicator light may emit a light cue orthogonal to the visual display surface. For example, the programmable display may visually present a predetermined visual cue along a longitudinal axis across the visual display surface when the indicator light emits the cue.For example, based on predefined associations between light cues and corresponding visual cues, the programmable display can visually present the visual cue as the corresponding interpretation of the light cue, based on those predefined associations. Various modes can visually present preconfigured messages with corresponding light cues on any visible surface.
