Radio head prosthesis

Abstract

The invention relates to a radio head prosthesis manufactured in a single piece by means of three-dimensional printing of the PEEK (polyetheretherketone) material of medical grade. The prosthesis is formed by a head, a neck and an integrated rod in a continuous manner, intended to partially or totally replace the proximal region of the radio bone. The head has an anatomical curvature that maintains the joint congruence with the humeral chapter and the ice cube, while the neck retains the longitudinal alignment and the functional length of the radius. The stem includes a recess at its lower end that facilitates insertion and improves distribution of loads within the medullary canal. The PEEK material reduces the phenomena of stress shielding, promotes bone integration and improves the durability of the implant.
