A LIFTING AND LOCKING MECHANISM

Abstract

The present invention provides a lifting and locking mechanism (10) for a structure (2) mounted on a frame (3) and movable between a raised and a lowered position. The lifting and locking mechanism (10) has a pair of movable links (16 and 18) connecting a pair of fixed links (12 and 14) to form a parallelogram joint. A latch (30), defined by a notch (38), and a handle (44) are pivotally mounted on the movable link (16) via a pivot point (36). A locking pin (28), extending from the movable links (22), is held by the notch (38) in a locked configuration of the lifting and locking mechanism (10), facilitated by a spring element (46).
