SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR VERTICAL OIL SEPARATION

Abstract

A refrigeration system includes at least one compressor and an oil separator fluidly coupled to the compressor. The oil separator is located downstream of the compressor and is configured to receive the compressor's fluid outlet. The oil separator includes a housing with a first end comprising a first outer surface and a first inner surface; a second end comprising a second outer surface and a second inner surface; a side wall; and the first end, the second end, and the side wall defining a centrifugal chamber. The refrigeration system includes a fluid inlet located in the side wall adjacent to the first end, a refrigerant outlet adjacent to the first end, an oil outlet adjacent to the second end, and a filter fluidly coupled to the refrigerant outlet, extending from the first inner surface of the first end to the second inner surface of the second end.
