Abstract
A system for the automated detection of human intrusion into a material handling arrangement based on a shuttle conveyor in warehouse operations is disclosed.The system comprises: bispectral cameras arranged in pairs such that the overlapping field of view of the bispectral cameras of each pair comprises an operating zone of one conveyor among the conveyors; each bispectral camera comprises a thermal imaging channel and an optical imaging channel; a safety controller; and a processor(s) configured to: acquire thermal imaging data and optical imaging data corresponding to the operating zone; analyze the thermal imaging data and the optical imaging data to detect the presence of a human in the operating zone; generate a control signal to temporarily cease operation of said arrangement; and send the control signal to the safety controller.
