PORTABLE WEARABLE DEVICE FOR SELECTIVE ACOUSTIC ATTENUATION OF AMBIENT NOISE

Abstract

The present invention relates to a portable electronic device for selective ambient noise cancellation that attenuates unwanted noise without completely isolating the user from their surroundings. The device does not require insertion into the ear canal and is configured to selectively identify and reduce specific frequency bands associated with bothersome ambient noise, while simultaneously allowing the passage of human voices and warning signals. The system comprises an array of microphones, a processing unit configured to classify acoustic signals, and acoustic transducers that generate selective cancellation signals. It can adopt various portable physical configurations. The device is non-invasive, achieving noise reduction while maintaining the perception of relevant nearby sounds.
