Abstract

A composite mattress includes a base cover panel, a foundation layer, a pressurizable layer, a mid-layer, a top layer, and a top cover panel. A support structure, or frame, laterally surrounds the pressurizable layer, the mid-layer, and the top layer. A cover perimeter laterally surrounds the support structure and, along with the top and foundation panels, encloses the other components of the composite mattress. A coil spring layer may also be included in the composite mattress. The composite mattress may include a detachable top and bottom; these elements may be modular, allowing individuals or couples to customize a mattress by selecting one or more tops from a plurality of available options for use with one or more bases from a plurality of available bases.
