Abstract
A hybrid hurricane protection system consisting of a flexible commercial tarpaulin combined with a metal mesh made of low-carbon, medium-carbon, high-carbon steel, stainless steel, or equivalent combinations with a protective polymer coating. The mesh and tarpaulin are joined mechanically, with adhesives, heat fusion, or equivalent methods, ensuring a controlled distribution of stress across the system's surface. The mesh diameter will range from 1.3 mm to 2.7 mm, depending on the application. The structural integration of the flexible commercial tarpaulin and the metal mesh provides the system with hurricane-resistant properties. These systems will be installed over openings, windows, doors, or other surfaces exposed to wind loads in the area to be covered, maximizing protection and reducing manufacturing and installation costs.
