Healthcare formulations and methods of using the same

Abstract

Presented herein are processes for forming active agent extracts and methods of using the same in healthcare formulations, such as hair care formulations. Active agent extracts are incorporated into compositions or formulations which, on application to damaged hair, reverses oxidative damage of disulfide bonds. More specifically, presented herein are processes for preparation of compositions of enzymatically hydrolyzed moringa seed extracts, which 1) repair cysteic acid residues and restore disulfide bonds, enhancing hair protein structural integrity, 2) protect hair from harsh hair treatments such as bleaching and other oxidative damage causing treatments such as coloring, highlighting, straightening, perming, hot ironing, and styling, and 3) actively penetrate hair, leading to improvement or restoration of internal hair structures and in mechanical properties of the hair.
