Abstract

A quick-connect plug and socket for mechanically and electrically attaching an electrical accessory. The plug has a shaft that is inserted into a socket hole to mechanically connect the plug and socket. An electrical connection is formed between the ring-shaped conductors of the plug, which are inserted into ring-shaped openings in the socket to engage the contacts within the socket. The plug body includes an extension that runs from one side of the body to the shaft. The extension has a channel and a slot through which an electrical wire is inserted, with the wires not threaded through the extension. The wire branches off the extension into a channel in the body and extends to the body's periphery, where it connects to the electrical terminals. A removable cover protects the wire in the channel, the terminals, and the portion of the wire that runs from the periphery to the terminals.
