MODULAR STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

Abstract

A vehicle steering assembly includes a steering column mounting bracket configured to support a steering column and a vehicle body mounting bracket for attachment to the vehicle body. The assembly further includes a device for mounting the steering column to the vehicle. The device includes a body defining a first interface configured to receive a first plurality of fasteners that couple the steering column mounting bracket to the body in a fixed position, and side supports coupled to each side of the body in a manner that permits translational movement of the body relative to the side supports along a first axis and rotational movement of the body relative to the side supports about a second axis.The side supports define a second interface configured to receive a second plurality of fastening elements that couple the vehicle body mounting bracket to the side supports.
