Abstract

An electrochromic article includes a first substrate having a first surface and an opposing second surface, and a second substrate having a third surface and an opposing fourth surface separated from the first substrate. The second surface of the first substrate faces the third surface of the second substrate, and a first electrode is placed on at least a portion of the second surface of the first substrate. A second electrode is placed on at least a portion of the third surface of the second substrate. A sealing material is placed between the first and second electrodes. An electrochromic composition is placed in direct contact with at least a portion of the first electrode and at least a portion of the second electrode. The sealing material is formed from an organic polymeric material having an oxygen transmission rate (OTR) less than or equal to 2 cc·mm / m²·day·atm.
