A lid for a container, the lid comprising: a skirt component formed from a metallic material, the skirt component comprising an external annular side wall defining a skirt cavity extending along a skirt axis and having an open lower end; and a seal component formed from a plastic material, the seal component comprising an annular seal side wall having an internal threaded surface configured to mate with an external threaded surface of a neck of a container body, the annular seal side wall defining a neck cavity having a closed upper end and an open lower end to receive the neck of the container; wherein the seal component is mounted on the skirt component and positioned within the skirt cavity such that the external annular side wall of the skirt component circumscribes the annular seal side wall of the seal component.

2. The lid according to claim 1, wherein the skirt component is a stamped metal component; and wherein the seal component is an injection-molded plastic component.

3. The lid according to any one of claims 1 to 2, wherein the sealing component is separately injection molded and friction-fitted to the skirt component.

4. The cover according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein each of the skirt component and the seal component is a single monolithic component.

5. The cover according to any of claims 1 to 4, further comprising: the skirt component comprising a first interference element; and the seal component comprising a second interference element that is matched with the first interference element of the skirt component.

6. The cover according to claim 5 wherein the matching of the first and second interference elements of the skirt and seal component prevents relative rotation between the skirt component and the seal component and establishes a friction fit between the skirt component and the seal component.

The cover according to any of claims 5 to 6, further comprising: the skirt component comprising: an inner annular side wall surrounded by the outer annular side wall such that there is an annular space between the inner and outer annular side walls of the skirt component; and a skirt end wall, wherein the inner and outer annular side walls of the skirt component extend downwards from the skirt end wall; wherein the first interference element of the skirt component is located on an inner surface of the inner annular side wall of the skirt component; and wherein the second interference element of the seal component is located on an outer surface of the side wall of the annular seal.

The lid according to claim 7 wherein the sealing component further comprises a seal end wall, wherein the annular seal side wall extends downward from the seal end wall, and the seal end wall has an annular flange portion extending beyond the outer surface of the annular seal side wall, wherein the annular flange portion engages an annular shoulder formed on the inner surface of the inner skirt side wall.

The lid according to any of claims 1 to 5, further comprising: the skirt component comprising: an inner annular side wall surrounded by the outer annular side wall such that an annular space exists between the inner and outer annular side walls of the skirt component; and an annular skirt end wall defining a central opening in the skirt cavity, wherein the inner and outer annular side walls of the skirt component extend downwards from the skirt end wall; the seal component comprising a seal end wall having an upper surface and a lower surface, the annular seal side wall extending downwards from the lower surface of the seal end wall;and the sealing component mounted on the skirt component to close the center opening so that each of a top surface of the skirt end wall and the top surface of the sealing end wall remain exposed.

10. The cover according to claim 9 wherein the annular sealing side wall of the skirt extends downwards beyond a lower edge of the inner annular side wall of the skirt component.

11. The cover according to any one of claims 9 to 10, wherein the outer annular side wall of the skirt component extends downwards beyond a lower edge of the sealing annular side wall of the skirt component.

13. The container according to claim 12 wherein the container body further comprises a shoulder portion, wherein the neck extends upwards from the shoulder portion, a lower edge of the outer annular wall of the skirt component adjacent to the shoulder portion of the container body.

14. The container according to any one of claims 12 to 13 wherein the body portion of the container is a collapsible tube comprising a multi-layer laminated structure, wherein a lower end of the collapsible tube is sealed and the neck is coupled to an upper end of the collapsible tube.

15. The container according to claim 14 wherein the multi-layer laminated structure comprises an innermost layer, a first intercalated layer, a second intercalated layer, a first intercalated layer, and an outermost layer.

16. The container according to any one of claims 12 to 13, wherein the body part of the container body is a thermoformed bottle.

17. The container according to any of claims 12 to 16, wherein the neck is formed from a plastic material.
