Abstract
A syringe having a barrel that defines an outer circumferential surface and a distal end that includes a non-Luer tip that cannot be connected to an intravenous device. The syringe barrel defines a snap-on syringe coupling feature, adjacent to its distal end and oriented on its outer circumferential surface, which can be selectively inserted into an orifice of a supplemental enteral collar. A proximal end of the enteral collar has a snap-on enteral collar coupling feature in the collar orifice. In some embodiments, the snap-on enteral collar coupling feature includes one or more cantilever snap seals that engage a recess in the syringe coupling feature after axial insertion of the syringe tip into the collar orifice. In some models, the enteral collar's coupling feature includes a discontinuous annular snap seal. The enteral collar is sized to allow connection to an enteral feeding device and to prevent connection to a device with a Luer connector.
