PROCESS FOR PRODUCING BIODIESEL USING NON-EDIBLE OILS AND ONYX MINING WASTE.

Abstract

An original and inexpensive method for biodiesel production is presented. The procedure uses non-edible vegetable oils, replacing the use of expensive, refined, edible vegetable oils. The procedure comprises a stage of free fatty acid removal from the oils, accelerated by solid catalysts containing calcium carbonate and pseudomorphic calcium oxide. The second stage involves the thermal transesterification of triglycerides from the oils, catalyzed by cubic crystals of calcium oxide. The procedure allows for the production of high-quality, low-cost biodiesel that meets the quality standards required for its use and commercialization.
