ADJUSTABLE DEPTH BUILT-IN UNIT

Abstract

This description provides a depth-adjustable recessed unit comprising a cover plate, an extension unit, and at least one pair of tabs. The cover plate includes a flat, rigid plate and a raised portion. The raised portion projects laterally from the rigid plate and defines an opening. The extension unit defines a cavity and is sized to fit into the opening of the cover plate. The extension unit can be moved relative to the cover plate along an axis extending from front to back, allowing for adjustment of the axial distance between the front of the extension unit and the cover plate. Each tab of the tab pair defines an opening for mounting an electrical device in the extension unit.The pair of tabs extends laterally from the extension unit in such a way that a line segment connects the centers of the openings of the pair of tabs.
