Abstract

The contribution to the cooling process using process pumps and recirculation was studied in order to optimize energy expenditure in heat transfer, since within the plastics industry the cooling process and water quality are relevant aspects to avoid material distortions.The capacity of the cooling equipment is analyzed, and it is found that there is greater efficiency with the incorporation of a controlled pumping system. Therefore, a semi-open circuit is studied, where the elements with specific characteristics are determined, considering the calculation of variables that influence the circuit, such as pressure drops, temperatures, volumetric flow rate, enthalpy, among others, to conclude with the connection to the panel, manifold, valves, reprocessing pumps and storage tanks to a cooling system, which is designed to avoid changing cooling equipment with different capacities.
