Valve for sealing off pressure

Abstract

The invention relates to a valve, capable of being installed in a through hole of a hanger and separating the tubing into two sections, for sealing off pressure from both or either one of the two sections, comprising: a plug which includes: a generally tubular outer body (1), capable of being accommodated by the through hole, having head (2), torso (3), and tail (4) portions, wherein: internal of said outer body (1) is a hollow (5) defined by two segments (6, 7), one of which is wider than the other, wherein the wider one (6) open at the end of said head portion (2), the narrower one (7) opens at the end of said tail portion (4), and the connection between the wider and narrower segments (6, 7) is defined by a slope (8); the connection between said head (2) and torso (3) portions is defined by a shoulder (9); and said outer body (1) has at least one channel (10) passing through the shoulder (9) for facilitating equalization of pressure between the internal and external of said outer body (1); and a generally cylindrical inner body (11) defined by first end (12), and main (13) portions, wherein: the main portion (13) tapers toward the first end portion (12); and said inner body (11) is capable of passing through said wider segment (6) of said hollow (5) and being received by said hollow (5) such that the first end portion (12) of said inner body (11) engages the narrower segment (7) of said hollow (5).
