Cylinder head for automotive engine

Abstract

A lateral EGR channel (27) and a longwise EGR channel (28) can be provided at a rear portion of a cylinder head. An auxiliary coolant discharge outlet (39) for an EGR system that can pass water to an EGR cooler (41) can be opened to a main boss portion (29) at which the longwise EGR channel (28) is provided. The EGR cooler (41) can be fixed to a rear end face of the cylinder head by bolts (43). Accordingly, tap-hole boss portions (37, 38, 44) to which bolts can be screwed, are provided on the rear end face of the cylinder head. One type of cylinder head can handle a type not provided with an EGR device, a type provided with an EGR device but only provided with a cooler-less standalone EGR valve (30), and a type provided with an EGR device and also provided with the EGR cooler (41).
