A wideband monopole antenna for electromagnetic signal transmission

Abstract

The present invention discloses a monopole antenna (1) for wideband signal transmission, the monopole antenna (1) comprising: a substrate (2) having a first surface (2a) and a second surface (2b) which is opposing to the first surface (2a); wherein the first surface (2a) of the substrate (2) comprises a generally egg shape radiating metallic patch (3) and a transmission feed line (4) extended from an edge of the substrate (2) to a first position on the first surface (2a) that connects with the radiating metallic patch (3); and wherein the second surface (2b) of the substrate (2) comprises a generally triangular ground plane (5) extended from the edge of the substrate (2) to a second position on the second surface (2b) that corresponds to the first position on the first surface (2a), whereby the ground plane (5) further includes an elongate slot (6) extended from the second position to a third position on the second surface (2b) that falls within an area of the ground plane (5).
