AI Technical Summary
In a multi-SIM terminal, if one SIM card is processing a high-priority task, the other SIM card may be unable to respond after receiving a paging message, causing the network device to continue paging, resulting in a waste of network resources.
By sending an indication message in the terminal to indicate not responding to the paging message, the terminal and network equipment can determine that there is no response and send a busy indication message or leave message to stop unnecessary sending of paging messages and avoid resource waste.
It accelerates the paging response process when the terminal is busy, reduces service delays or interruptions, and reduces the sending of unresponsive paging messages from the network side, avoiding resource waste and reducing system power consumption.

[0038] To make the objects, technical solutions, and advantages of the present disclosure clearer, the following will describe the present disclosure in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings and specific embodiments.
[0039] As shown in FIG. 2, the embodiment of the present application provides a paging response method, which is applied to a first UE included in a terminal. Optionally, the terminal is a multi-card terminal, and in addition to the first UE, the terminal further includes at least one UE. The paging response method includes the following steps.
[0040] In step 201, when it is determined not to respond to the paging message, a indication message is sent, which is used to indicate not to respond to the paging message.
[0041] The paging message is sent by a network device to the terminal. Optionally, before step 201, the method further includes the following step: receiving the paging message in an idle or inactive state.
[0042] The capability of the multi-card terminal can be single-transmit-single-receive, single-transmit-dual-receive, dual-transmit-dual-receive, etc. One feature of the multi-card terminal is that it can simultaneously camp on multiple networks, but the implementation of the multi-card terminal is different. Some terminals can simultaneously send and receive on multiple networks without affecting each other. When the terminal simultaneously camps on multiple networks, it can use time division, that is, it camps on network A for a period of time to listen to the paging of network A, and camps on network B for a period of time to listen to the paging of network B. Alternatively, it connects to receive data on network A for a period of time, and then goes to network B to receive paging for a period of time. Alternatively, it receives data on network A for a period of time, and then goes to network B to establish a connection or receive data for a period of time.
[0043] Specifically, whether to respond to the paging message is determined according to at least one of an ongoing service and a paging cause.
[0044] In the embodiment of the present application, in addition to the first UE, the terminal further includes a second UE, and the ongoing service specifically refers to the service of the second UE.
[0045] The paging message can carry a paging cause (paging cause). The air interface paging cause is used to indicate the reason for paging the UE, such as triggering the paging UE because of the VoNR service (i.e., voice call). The UE can determine the subsequent behavior according to the paging cause value carried in the paging message received from the air interface, such as whether to respond to the paging. For example, the terminal is a dual-card terminal, card 1 is playing a game, at this time, card 2 receives a paging message, and the corresponding paging cause is VoNR. The terminal can choose to respond to the paging message of card 2. If card 2 receives a paging message, and the corresponding paging cause value is a short message, the terminal can choose to temporarily ignore the paging message of card 2, such as waiting until the game of card 1 is over before initiating connection establishment.
[0046] The method for responding to a paging message according to the embodiments of the present application can accelerate the process of responding to the paging message when the terminal is busy, reduce the delay or interruption of the terminal service, and reduce the sending of the paging message from the network side, thereby avoiding resource waste and reducing the power consumption of the system.
[0047] Further, the indication message is a message containing busy indication information or a leaving message.
[0048] The busy indication information includes at least one of the following:
[0049] busy indication;
[0050] paging reason(s) for which the paging message is not responded to;
[0051] service type(s) for which the paging message is not responded to;
[0052] Prohibit Timer for not responding to the paging reason or service.
[0053] The Prohibit Timer is used as the time length for which the first UE does not respond to the network part of the paging, and as an implementation method, the first UE determines the time length according to the service being executed by the multi-card terminal.
[0054] The network stops sending the paging message that is not responded to before the Prohibit Timer expires.
[0055] After the Prohibit Timer expires, the network can continue to normally send the paging message of all types and reasons.
[0056] The leaving message includes at least one of the following:
[0057] busy indication;
[0058] paging reason for which the paging message is not responded to;
[0059] service type for which the paging message is not responded to;
[0060] Prohibit Timer for not responding to the paging reason or service;
[0061] leaving reason;
[0062] service type being executed;
[0063] Leaving Timer;
[0064] identifier of the first UE.
[0065] It should be noted that one multi-card terminal contains multiple UEs, i.e. each SIM in the multi-card terminal corresponds to a UE.
[0066] In specific embodiments of the present application, the indication message can be at least one of a non-access stratum (NAS) service request message, a NAS registration request message, a tracking area update (TAU) message, a radio resource control (RRC) resume request message, an RRC resume request message 1, an RRC resume complete message, an RRC setup request message, and an RRC setup complete message. The leaving message can be a NAS message or an RRC message.
[0067] The sending of the indication message in step 201 includes:
[0068] The non-access stratum (NAS) service request message is sent, and the NAS service request message includes the busy indication information.
[0069] Alternatively, a NAS registration request message is sent, and the NAS registration request message includes the busy indication information.
[0070] Alternatively, a tracking area update (TAU) message is sent, and the TAU message includes the busy indication information.
[0071] Alternatively, at least one of a radio resource control (RRC) resume request message (RRC Resume Request), an RRC resume request message 1 (RRC Resume Request 1), and an RRC resume complete message (RRC Resume Complete) is sent, and the RRC resume request message, the RRC resume request message 1, or the RRC resume complete message includes at least one of busy indication information and a specific value of a resume cause, and the specific value of the resume cause indicates that the first UE is busy.
[0072] For example, the first UE responds to a RAN Paging (base station paging) and / or a CN Paging (core network paging) by an RRC Resume Request message in an inactive state. The RRC Resume Request message includes at least one of busy indication information and a resume cause indicating that the first UE is busy, such as mt-busy. After receiving the RRC Resume Request message, the network releases the RRC connection with the first UE and stops sending paging messages that are not responded to.
[0073] Alternatively, at least one of a RRC Setup Request message and a RRC Setup Complete message is sent, wherein the RRC Setup Request message or the RRC Setup Complete message includes at least one of busy indication information and a specific value of establishment cause, and the specific value of establishment cause indicates that the first UE is busy.
[0074] For example, by including busy indication information in the RRC Setup Request and / or RRC Setup Complete message, it is indicated that the UE does not respond to the paging.
[0075] The RRC Setup Request message includes at least one of the following information:
[0076] Busy indication information;
[0077] The establishment cause indicates that the first UE is busy, such as mt-busy.
[0078] The RRC Setup Complete message optionally includes the following information:
[0079] Busy indication information.
[0080] Further, the above paging response method further includes:
[0081] Releasing the RRC connection when a predetermined condition is met;
[0082] The predetermined condition includes at least one of the following:
[0083] Receiving a response message to the indication message;
[0084] Receiving a RRC connection release message after sending the indication message;
[0085] Receiving an acknowledgement (ACK) response of a radio link control (RLC) layer corresponding to the indication message after sending the indication message;
[0086] Starting a timer after receiving the ACK response of the RLC layer corresponding to the indication message after sending the indication message, and the timer expires;
[0087] A timer is started when the indication message is sent or the indication message is delivered to the lower layer of RRC, and the timer expires.
[0088] Assume that the multi-card terminal of the embodiment of the application comprises a first UE (UE1) and a second UE (UE2), wherein the UE2 is in a connected state and performs services, and the UE1 is in an idle or inactive state and receives a paging, the paging response method of the application is described below in combination with specific embodiments.
[0089] Embodiment one: as shown in FIG. 3, the paging response method of the embodiment of the application comprises:
[0090] Step 301: the UE1 receives a paging message.
[0091] Step 302: the terminal (UE1+UE2) determines not to respond to the paging message received by the UE1.
[0092] For example, the UE2 is performing a voice telephone service, the terminal cannot respond to the paging of the UE1 due to the paging of voice or data or other services, and the terminal determines to send busy indication information.
[0093] Step 303: the UE1 initiates RRC connection establishment and carries the busy indication information through a NAS uplink message.
[0094] The NAS uplink message is specifically a NAS service request (Service Request) message.
[0095] The NAS Service Request message comprises one or more of the following information but is not limited to the following information:
[0096] busy indication (Busy Indication);
[0097] paging cause or cause list not to be responded to;
[0098] service type not to be responded to;
[0099] duration (Prohibit Timer) of the paging cause or service not to be responded to.
[0100] Step 304: the network stops sending the paging message not to be responded to to the UE1.
[0101] Optionally, the network continues to normally send the paging message according to the Prohibit Timer indicated by the UE1 after the Prohibit Timer expires.
[0102] The network sends a response message to the UE1 after receiving the indication message.
[0103] Optionally, in the N2 message carrying the NAS feedback message, a release indication is carried, which is used to instruct the network device (gNB) to release the RRC connection with the UE1. After the gNB sends the corresponding NAS message (response message) to the UE according to the NAS feedback message, it releases the RRC connection with the UE1 according to the release indication.
[0104] Embodiment two: As shown in FIG. 4, the paging response method of the embodiment of the application comprises:
[0105] Step 401: UE1 receives the paging message.
[0106] Step 402: The terminal (UE1+UE2) determines not to respond to the paging message received by UE1.
[0107] Specifically, the terminal evaluates the priority of each UE service:
[0108] The paging cause carried in the paging message received by UE1.
[0109] The service being performed by UE2.
[0110] For example, UE2 is performing a voice telephone service, and the terminal cannot respond to the paging cause on UE1, which is a voice or data or other service paging, and the terminal determines to send a busy indication.
[0111] Step 403: UE1 initiates RRC connection establishment, initiates a mobility or periodic registration update (Registration Request) or attach (Attach, TAU) procedure, and sends busy indication (Busy Indication) information through a registration request message (Registration Request) or TAU message.
[0112] The busy indication information (Busy Indication) carried in the NAS message such as the registration request message (Registration Request) or the TAU message includes but is not limited to:
[0113] Busy indication (Busy Indication);
[0114] Unresponded paging cause (Paging Cause);
[0115] Unresponded service type (Service Type);
[0116] Duration of not responding to the paging cause or service (Prohibit Timer).
[0117] Step 404: The network stops sending the non-responded paging message to UE1.
[0118] Optionally, the network continues to normally send the paging message after the Prohibit Timer expires according to the Prohibit Timer indicated by the UE.
[0119] After receiving the indication message, the network sends a response message to UE1.
[0120] Optionally, in the N2 message carrying the NAS feedback message, a release indication is carried, which is used to instruct the network device (gNB) to release the RRC connection with UE1. After the gNB sends the corresponding NAS message (response message) to UE1 according to the NAS feedback message, the gNB releases the RRC connection with UE1 according to the indication.
[0121] Embodiment three: As shown in FIG. 5, the paging response method of the embodiment of the application comprises:
[0122] Step 501: UE1 receives the paging message.
[0123] Step 502: The terminal (UE1+UE2) determines not to respond to the paging message received by UE1.
[0124] Specifically, the terminal evaluates the priority of each UE service:
[0125] The paging reason carried in the paging message received by UE1.
[0126] The service being executed by UE2.
[0127] For example, UE2 is executing a voice telephone service, and the terminal cannot respond to the paging reason of voice or data or other services on UE1, so the terminal determines to send a leaving message (Leaving Notification) to indicate not to respond to the paging.
[0128] Step 503: UE1 initiates RRC connection establishment and sends a leaving message to indicate not to respond to the paging.
[0129] The leaving message can be a NAS message or an RRC message.
[0130] The leaving message includes at least one of the following information:
[0131] Carrying a busy indication (Busy Indication)
[0132] The paging reason not to be responded to,
[0133] The service type not to be responded to,
[0134] Duration of not responding to the paging cause or service (Prohibit Timer)
[0135] Cause of leaving;
[0136] Type of service being performed;
[0137] Duration of leaving (Leaving Timer);
[0138] UE1 ID, such as 5G-S-TMSI or I-RNTI.
[0139] Specifically, the UE1 sends a leaving message after AS security activation.
[0140] Step 504: The network stops sending the UE1 a paging message that is not responded to.
[0141] Optionally, the network stops paging the UE1 during the running of the Leaving Timer indicated by the UE1, and continues to normally send paging messages after the Leaving Timer expires, or the network continues to normally send paging messages after the UE1 returns to the network.
[0142] After the above step 504, the method of the present application further comprises: the UE1 releases the connection.
[0143] As an optional implementation of the UE1 releasing the connection:
[0144] The UE1 releases the RRC connection when a specific condition is met, and the specific condition is:
[0145] The UE1 receives a response message to the RRC leaving message;
[0146] The UE1 receives an ACK response of the RLC layer corresponding to the RRC leaving message after sending the message;
[0147] The UE1 starts a timer after receiving the ACK response of the RLC layer corresponding to the RRC leaving message after sending the message, and the timer expires;
[0148] The UE1 starts a timer when the RRC leaving message is sent or when the RRC leaving message is delivered to the lower layer of the RRC, and the timer expires.
[0149] Embodiment four: As shown in FIG. 6, the paging response method of the embodiment of the present application comprises:
[0150] Step 601: The UE1 receives a paging message.
[0151] Step 602: The terminal (UE1+UE2) determines not to respond to the paging message received by the UE1.
[0152] For example, UE2 is performing voice telephone service, the terminal cannot respond to the paging cause of UE1 as voice or data or other service paging, the terminal determines to send an RRC resume message to indicate not to respond to the paging.
[0153] Step 603: UE1 initiates an RRC Resume procedure and indicates not to respond to the paging by RRC Resume request or request1 or RRC Resume Complete message.
[0154] The RRC Resume request / request1 / Complete message includes at least one of the following information:
[0155] The resume Cause indicates that UE1 is busy, such as mt-busy;
[0156] Busy indication;
[0157] Paging cause not to be responded to;
[0158] Service type not to be responded to;
[0159] Duration (Prohibit Timer) of not responding to the paging cause or service.
[0160] Step 604: UE1 receives the RRC connection release message sent by the network.
[0161] Step 605: The network stops sending the paging message not to be responded to UE1.
[0162] Optionally, the network continues to normally send the paging message according to the Prohibit Timer indicated by UE1 after the Prohibit Timer expires.
[0163] Embodiment five: as shown in FIG. 7, the paging response method of the embodiment of the application comprises:
[0164] Step 701: UE1 receives a paging message.
[0165] Step 702: The terminal (UE1+UE2) determines not to respond to the paging message received by UE1.
[0166] For example, UE2 is performing voice telephone service, the terminal cannot respond to the paging cause of UE1 as voice or data or other service paging, the terminal determines to send an RRC establishment message to indicate not to respond to the paging.
[0167] Step 703: UE1 initiates RRC connection establishment procedure, and indicates not responding to paging by RRC Setup request and / or RRC Setup Complete.
[0168] The RRC Setup request message includes at least one of the following information:
[0169] The Establishment Cause indicates that UE1 is busy, such as mt-busy;
[0170] Busy indication;
[0171] Paging reason not to be responded;
[0172] Service type not to be responded;
[0173] Prohibit timer of the paging reason or service not to be responded.
[0174] The RRC Setup Complete message optionally includes at least one of the following information:
[0175] Busy indication;
[0176] Paging reason not to be responded;
[0177] Service type not to be responded;
[0178] Prohibit timer of the paging reason or service not to be responded.
[0179] As an optional implementation, UE1 sends the RRC Setup request message, indicates MT busy by establishment Cause, and optionally carries busy indication information; and UE1 receives the connection release message sent by the network.
[0180] As another optional implementation, UE1 sends the RRC Setup request message, optionally indicates MT busy by establishment Cause; the network sends the connection establishment (RRC Setup); UE1 sends the RRC Setup Complete message, carries busy indication information; and UE1 receives the connection release message sent by the network.
[0181] Step 704: The network stops sending the paging message not to be responded to UE1.
[0182] Optionally, the network continues to normally send the paging message according to the Prohibit Timer indicated by the UE1 after the Prohibit Timer expires.
[0183] The paging response method of the embodiment of the application can accelerate the paging response process when the terminal is busy, reduce the delay or interruption of the terminal service, and reduce the sending of the paging message that is not responded from the network side, avoid resource waste, and facilitate reduction of power consumption of the system.
[0184] As shown in FIG. 8, the embodiment of the application further provides a paging response method applied to a network device, and the method comprises the following steps:
[0185] Step 801: receiving an indication message of a first UE, wherein the indication message is used to indicate that a paging message is not responded.
[0186] The indication message is a message containing busy indication information or a leaving message. Before receiving the indication message of the first UE, the network device optionally sends a paging message to the first UE in an idle or non-activated state, and the terminal sends the indication message when it is determined that the paging message is not responded.
[0187] The busy indication information comprises at least one of the following:
[0188] a busy indication;
[0189] a paging reason for which the paging message is not responded;

[0192] The leaving message comprises at least one of the following:
[0193] a busy indication;
[0194] a paging reason for which the paging message is not responded;
[0195] a service type for which the paging message is not responded;
[0196] a time length for which the paging reason or the service is not responded;
[0197] a reason for leaving;
[0198] a service type being executed;
[0199] a time length for leaving;
[0200] an identity of the first UE.
[0201] Further, after receiving the indication message of the first UE, the method further comprises:
[0202] stopping sending the paging message to the UE within a preset time;
[0203] The paging message is at least one of:
[0204] The paging message sent by the network device before receiving the indication message;
