Abstract
This invention discloses a type of DC fast-charging system which include a charger and a battery powered device. The charger outputs electrical energy and is coupled to the battery powered device; its characteristics are: the charger includes an AC power supply, a plurality of AC-DC power supply, charging cable and a plug whilst the battery powered device includes a socket, sensor, battery configurator, sets of batteries configured in series and an electrical load. The input of the plurality of AC-DC power supply is connected to the AC power supply and the output of the plurality of AC-DC power supply travels along the charging cable and plug which is connected to the battery powered device by coupling the plug and the socket. The battery configurator receives a signal from the sensor indicating the presence of a plug and proceed to configure the sets of batteries configured in series and parallel, subsequently diverting the circuit from the electrical load to the socket for charging and vice versa when the plug is removed. The system adopts a single AC-DC power supply to a single set of batteries configured in series setup during charging; wherein each AC-DC power supply outputs a relatively low current thus eliminating the need for cooling the charging cable and plug. In addition, the relatively low-capacity batteries used, reduces the charging duration.
