A system and method for producing green base oil from waste vegetable oil

Abstract

The present invention provides a system and method for producing green base oil from waste vegetable oil. The system comprises a mesh sieve 325 (102) to remove any solid impurities, a drying oven (104) to remove presence of water, a silica treatment chamber (106) to remove fatty acid, phospholipid, and trace metals, a cavitation tool (108) to preheat the waste vegetable oil and to improve the properties of the waste vegetable oil, an autoclave hydrogenation reactor (110) and a fractional distillation column (112) to purify base oil properties. The method comprises steps of filtering (202), heating (204) and treating (206) the waste vegetable oil. The waste vegetable oil is then cavitated (208) and hydrogenated (210) in the presence of nickel-molybdenum catalyst prior to purifying (212) the green base oil.
