A metal insert for a security seal and a method for forming thereof

Abstract

The present invention discloses a metal insert (100) for a security seal that includes a central body (102), a through-hole (104) configured to receive a locking filament (206) in a flush fit manner, and a pair of gripping jaws (106a, 106b) extending outwardly from opposite edges of the central body (102) to secure the filament in a one-way locking mechanism. Further, the present invention discloses a security seal (200) comprising a housing (202) defining a hollow channel (204), a locking filament (206) extending from the housing (202), and a metal insert (208, 300) securely positioned within the hollow channel (204). Furthermore, a method (400) of forming the metal insert is described that comprises shaping a single metallic strip through metal stamping processes to create the central body (102), aperture (108), and gripping jaws (106a, 106b). Moreover, a method (600) of forming the security seal (200) is also described that involves molding the housing (202) forming a hollow channel (204), and positioning the metal insert (208) in the hollow channel (204).
