Abstract

GeoPolyMattress is an environmentally friendly, lightweight mattress system designed to support and strengthen the soil beneath new embankments, structures, and existing depressed roads. It offers an alternative solution for mitigating and preventing ground settlement, especially over fully saturated soft soils. The system creates a buoyancy effect that counteracts the overburden pressure, thereby significantly reducing settlement of the underlying ground. By minimizing the generation of excess pore water pressure, GeoPolyMattress facilitates rapid ground rehabilitation and enables efficient construction of new roads and expressways over challenging subsoil conditions. The system and method provide a rapid, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly approach to ground stabilization in infrastructure projects.
