Terminations and shields for high-speed cable assemblies

Abstract

A high-speed cable assembly includes a printed circuit board, a twinax cable, a bottom shield array comprising a plurality of individual bottom shields, and a top shield. Each bottom shield is a U-shaped conductive material positioned around the twinax cable to shield the twinax cable on three sides. The top shield is configured to be electrically connected to the bottom shield array. The assembly may further include a conductive foam electrically connecting the top shield to a twinax foil of the twinax cable. The twinax cable may include a pair of signal conductors and a pair of ground conductors mounted to conductive pads of the printed circuit board. A stabilizer bar may be positioned between the top shield and bodies of the twinax cable to stabilize terminations to the printed circuit board.
