A hardware system for jawi and rumi text conversion

Abstract

A system 100 for Jawi and Rumi text conversion, comprising: a processor 140, a text conversion input module 110, a scanning module 120, a recognition module 130, an output display module 160, an output audio module 170 and memory 150. The said memory 150 comprises at least a Jawi dictionary, at least a Rumi dictionary and instructions 200 that when executed caused said system 100 to perform Jawi to Rumi text conversion or Rumi to Jawi text conversion. The instructions 200 comprise the steps of setting text conversion direction 210, scanning a portion of text 220, generating a scanned image of the portion of text 230, identifying the portion of text into a Jawi text or a Rumi text from the scanned image 240, tokening 250 and normalising 260 said Jawi text or said Rumi text, mapping said Jawi text or said Rumi text to a corresponding word in the Jawi dictionary or the Rumi dictionary 270, converting said Jawi text to a corresponding Rumi text or said Rumi text to a corresponding Jawi text 280, displaying said corresponding text 290 on the output display module 160 and pronouncing said corresponding text 300 via the output audio module 170.
