Chainless vehicle with serial hybrid drive system

Abstract

A vehicle (1) is described comprising at least two wheels (3,4) and a hybrid drive system (20) for driving at least one of the wheels. The drive system (20) comprises at least one electrical 5 generator (6) comprising a generator axle, a crank drive (11) coupled to the generator axle, and at least one electrical drive motor (7) arranged to drive the at least one of the wheels. An energy storage device (8) is arranged to store electric energy generated by the at least one electrical generator, and to supply energy to the at least one electrical drive motor (7). The drive system also comprises a control system (9) comprising a motor speed measurement unit (23) for 10 measuring a motor speed (nMot) of the at least one electrical drive motor (7), the control system (9) being arranged to control a speed of the at least one electric generator (6) wherein a target speed value (nGen_target) for the generator (6) depends on the motor speed (nMot), and wherein a target current value (IMot_target) for the motor (7) depends on a dynamic power input (PGen) produced by a driver when rotating the crank drive.
