Tamper-evident closure

Abstract

A closure for a container comprises an annular base to be fixed to the upper rim of the container, a lid adapted to cover an access opening defined by the base, and a locking tab hingeably attached to the base. The locking tab has an engagement portion adapted to engage the lid and is hingeable about a hinging axis between a locking position, in which the engagement portion engages the lid and prevents movement of the lid relative to the annular base, and a releasing position, in which the locking tab is moved away from the lid allowing opening of the lid relative to the annular base. The closure furthermore comprises a tamperevident button. The tamper-evident button has coupling means to couple the button to the lid. The locking tab has a contour edge defining a recess. The tamper-evident button is received at least partially in said recess. The contour edge of the recess and the tamper-evident button are connected by frangible connections. A part of the frangible connections is located at a different distance from the hinging axis of the locking tab as another part of the frangible connections.
