Abstract
The present invention pertains to a method of preserving macroscopic biomass particles that have a minimal length dimension of 0.1 mm by subjecting the biomass particles to a heat treatment, the treatment involving putting the particles in a gaseous medium and thereafter heating the particles present in the medium to a temperature between 130°C and 240°C and maintaining that temperature for at least 10 minutes, and then cooling the particles to a temperature below 150°C, in particular to room temperature. The invention also pertains to macroscopic biomass particles obtained by using this method and their use.
