Dry moulded forming system and method for manufacturing 3-dimensionally shaped packaging units from dry mouldable fiber material

Abstract

The present invention relates to a system and method for manufacturing 3—dimensionally shaped packaging unit from dry mouldable fiber material and having a number of corners. The system comprises: - a forming unit configured for receiving loose fibers of the fiber material at a fiber receiving position, and comprising a number of forming mould parts; - a pressure system that is operatively coupled to the number of forming mould parts and is configured for providing an underpressure in the forming mould part to enable holding the fibers; and - a transferring unit comprising a number of transfer mould parts configured for pressing and transferring a preform in one of the forming mould parts at a transferring position of the forming unit, and having a release position for releasing the preform from the transfer mould part of the transferring unit, wherein the forming unit and the transferring unit comprise transferring means configured for transferring the preform from the forming unit to the transferring unit; and wherein the dry moulded forming system comprises a mould movement system configured for relative movement between the forming mould parts and the transfer mould parts at the transferring position to enable pressing and transferring of the preform.
