Abstract

The invention discloses molecular markers related to the size of white spots on the top of the head of sex-linked Barred chicken chicks and their applications, belonging to the field of poultry genetic markers. By taking the new sex-linked Barred chicken strain (Barred chicken Line H) bred by Jiangsu Institute of Poultry Science as the experimental object, the invention screens out two molecular markers, chr2:6249527 and chr7:25622689, which are significantly related to the size of white spots on the top of the head of sex-linked Barred chicken chicks. By determining the genotypes of the two loci in the molecular markers, selection can be carried out on sex-linked Barred chickens at any age stage during matching and utilization, so as to more targeted and accurately select individual chicks with large white spots on the top of the head, and form a sex-linked Barred chicken strain with large white spots on the top of the head. This is conducive to improving the accuracy of self-sexing of commercial chicks during the matching and utilization of sex-linked Barred chickens, saving labour, reducing costs, and having great economic application value.
