Abstract

Disclosed is an application of a cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 4 (CPEB4) inhibitor in preparation of a medicament for treating drug-resistant ovarian cancer. CPEB4 is specifically highly expressed in such drug-resistant ovarian cancer and 5 drives paclitaxel resistance by translationally upregulating an oncogene cancer / testis antigen gene 2 (CSAG2). Functional experiments confirm that inhibiting CPEB4 can effectively reverse drug resistance. Accordingly, an inhibitor targeting CPEB4, for example small interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA) or a small molecule drug, can be used alone or in combination with paclitaxel for treating paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer, providing a 10 novel therapeutic target and strategy to address the challenge of clinical chemotherapy resistance.
