Powered fastener driving tools and clean lubricants therefor

Abstract

A method of operating a combustion powered fastener driving tool comprising: removably receiving in a housing assembly of the driving tool a combined fuel and clean lubricant supply container containing a mixture of a hydrocarbon fuel and a clean lubricant, the clean lubricant including a light mineral-based oil that does not solidify under combustion powered fastener driving tool conditions, and the mixture including a determined amount of the light mineral-based oil based on a viscosity and an evaporation rate of the light mineral-based oil; and, responsive to activation of a workpiece contact element and a trigger mechanism, both supported by the housing assembly, causing a combustion power supply assembly positioned in the housing assembly to combust the mixture of the hydrocarbon fuel and the clean lubricant and co-act with a fastener driving assembly supported by the housing assembly to drive a fastener provided by a fastener supply assembly supported by the housing assembly. A method of operating a pneumatic powered fastener driving tool (as shown) is also disclosed. The use of a light mineral-based oil as lubricant reduces contaminant, residue, and deposit buildup or accumulation in such fastener driving tools.
