Abstract

The present invention relates to a medicinal product based on extracts of a medicinal plant for treating LNCaP and PC-3 prostate cancer cells. It concerns a medicinal product made from the essential oil of Cymbopogon citratus leaves obtained by aqueous distillation and / or citral (citral A + citral B), its major component. According to the invention, the essential oil comprises the following molecules: 6methyl-5-hepten-2one 0.90%, myrcene 5.37%, eucalyptol 0.16%, perillene 0.16%, linalool 0.70%, citronellal 0.12%, trans-verbenol 0.51%, isogeranial 1.07%, citronellol 0.14%, neral (or citral b) 34.37%, geraniol 3.27%, geranial or citral A 48.18%, geranyl formate 0.09%, neric acid 0.86%, geranyl acetate 0.43%. This essential oil is used for the formulation of a phytomedicine in the form of ointment, suppository, syrup, capsules and in injectable form against prostate cancer.
