The invention relates both to a device and to a method for mixing old polyester into a polyester melt. The method is characterized by the fact that an intermediate product stream is branched off from an intermediate stage of a fresh polyester production process, is mixed with polyester recyclate flakes in a dynamic mixer, wherein at most 60% of the melt energy which is required to melt all the polyester recyclate flakes is produced and / or supplied in the dynamic mixer.
