Abstract

GEOMETRIC FRESHWATER SANITARY ZONES ARE CREATED WITHIN LARGE BODIES OF WATER WITHOUT USING PHYSICAL BARRIERS TO SEPARATE THE AREA. A coordinated reference system (CRS) is used to map the defined freshwater geometric zone in terms of its position; directional vectors (DVs) are defined for the introduction of freshwater into the freshwater geometric zone through inlet elements in order to achieve a minimum renewal rate of said freshwater geometric zone; a comparative water renewal index (CWRI) is applied; And the application of a homogeneity index (HI) based on the mixing conditions of the geometric freshwater zone and its required homogeneous conditions. The combined use of these processes generates safe, geometric freshwater zones suitable for bathing (for direct contact purposes).
