SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MODIFYING THE COLOR OF GRAPE BERRIES AND PLANTS

Abstract

This technology provides targeted genome editing techniques to modify the color of Vitis, plant parts, and fruits. Specifically, this technology relates to the use of genome editing methods to generate edits that result in large inactivating deletions in genes of interest, such as genes and genetic elements associated with plant color and pigmentation (e.g., PDS1 gene, mybA1 gene, and Gret1 retrotransposon), to modify the color traits of plants and fruits.
