Bucket handle for electric cable shovel

Abstract

In an electric cable shovel, the bucket handle must support a considerable weight, which can lead to fatigue cracking at the interfaces between the bucket handle sections. Consequently, bucket handle (200) embodiments are disclosed that reduce stress at the interface between the tubular section (210) and the intermediate section (220), to which the feed mechanism (160) is coupled. In particular, a gap is provided between the interface and the feed holes (223) to isolate the interface from the rigidity of the coupling. Furthermore, the walls of the bucket handle (200) can be thickened in the vicinity of the interface, with chamfered edges at the interface, to provide a stronger and more durable weld.
