Abstract
The invention proposes a sustainable method for producing a natural coagulant derived from Moringa oleifera (MO), designed to treat textile wastewater by reducing turbidity and removing complex dyes. The process utilizes proteins from moringa seeds, which destabilize suspended particles and form settleable flocs. It includes steps such as seed collection, pulverization to increase surface area, protein extraction in a 1M NaCl solution using controlled agitation, and filtration with fine-porosity filter paper to obtain a clear extract. Chemical characterization of the extract is performed using infrared spectroscopy, identifying the active proteins necessary for coagulation. The quality of the coagulant is validated with jar tests, adjusting the pH and measuring its effectiveness in reducing turbidity and color, achieving standards exceeding 70% and 80% reduction, respectively. This method offers an ecological and efficient alternative to chemical coagulants, contributing to the sustainability of wastewater treatment.
