Abstract
The present invention describes a portable and safe therapeutic device for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea by means of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. This device has the advantage of providing suitable therapeutic parameters that are adjustable by the user, significantly reducing pain and achieving a comfortable and effective therapy. The device comprises a compact housing; a rechargeable battery connected to a protected charging module containing USB input ports for external charging of the device; a voltage booster to increase the input voltage of the supplied power to an operational level for generating therapeutic pulses; and a symmetrical biphasic pulse generator stage to invert the polarity of the electrical pulses from the voltage booster and produce a symmetrical biphasic signal.A secondary voltage regulator receives part of the output from the voltage boost converter, regulates it, and sends it to the control module; a programmable microcontroller drives the logic signals emitted by the control module to the symmetrical biphasic pulse generator stage; and a therapeutic parametric control program configured to regulate frequency, pulse width, intensity, application time, and automatic session timing. Additionally, it includes output connectors for connecting reusable surface-mounted adhesive electrodes; and a main switch, a display reader, and control buttons connected to the control module and mounted on the surface of the compact housing for parameter display and manual control of frequency, pulse width, intensity, session start, and session stop.
