Abstract

The present invention describes a method for optimizing the hydroponic cultivation of strawberries (Fragaria L.) under a transparent covering in the Andean region of Peru. Different substrates and two varieties (Sabrina and San Andrea) were evaluated in a factorial design. The results demonstrated that the combination of sugarcane bagasse and peat (50:50) with the Sabrina variety provides higher yield, greater sweetness (°Brix), better fruit size and weight, as well as reduced pest incidence and increased profitability. This technical solution utilizes local agro-industrial waste, promotes sustainability, and offers economic and environmental advantages over conventional systems.
